Silverchair have had the strongest showing of their entire career with "Straight Lines" making it to #2 on Triple J's Hottest 100 poll missing out on #1 by a mere 13 votes of the 700,000+ votes cast! The national youth broadcaster's annual list of their listeners' favourite songs of the year was announced today and is always a highlight for Australian music fans.

The great result for "Straight Lines" eclipsed every other Silverchair track. Previous highlights included "Tomorrow" (#5 in 1994), "Freak" (#13 in 1997), "Ana's Song" (#15 in 1999) and "The Greatest View" (#10 in 2002).

Daniel Johns was interviewed live on Triple J to accompany the announcement and expressed his sincere thanks to everyone who had voted for Silverchair in this year's poll.
