ACROSS THE GREAT DIVIDE FORCED TO POSTPONE TONIGHT'S BALLARAT SHOW
POWDERFINGER and SILVERCHAIR have been forced to postpone tonight's show at the Ballarat Showgrounds due to high winds earlier today tearing a massive hole in the tent.
Strong winds earlier today caused a 15 metre tear to the roof of the tent which was being erected to house tonight's Across the Great Divide show.
The promoters and local authorities have been on site assessing the damage and have agreed that the tent cannot be safely repaired under the current weather conditions, and in light of the Severe Weather Warning which has been posted by the Department of Meteorology.
When making the decision to postpone the show, the promoter's primary consideration was for the safety of the audience and the performers.
The promoters hope to reschedule the show for tomorrow evening, Monday 17 September, subject to the weather clearing to allow repairs.
All tickets issued will be valid for the rescheduled performance. Ticket holders are urged to go to www.acrossthegreatdivide.com.au for further updates. A further statement will be issued by the promoters by noon tomorrow.

MYSPACE SECRET SHOW TO KICK OFF "ACROSS THE GREAT DIVIDE" NATIONAL TOUR
Wednesday August 29th - Newcastle
MySpace.com, Australia’s number one social networking site, today announced that Powderfinger and Silverchair will celebrate one year of MySpace Australia by kicking off their "Across the Great Divide" tour with an exclusive FREE performance for MySpace users.
Australia’s two biggest rock bands will perform a very special MySpace Secret Show, at an undisclosed venue in Newcastle next week. The unique show will mark the crescendo of MySpace Australia’s 1st birthday celebrations this month. It will also be the first chance for anyone to check out both bands as they begin their huge "Across The Great Divide" tour which will weave its way around Australia and New Zealand over the next 9 weeks.
In the past twelve months MySpace has changed the political, social and musical landscape of Australia with everyone from the Prime Minister to the girl next door on board. MySpace has also continued its amazing growth with unique visitors increasing to 2.9 million in July and total registered Australian users now at 3.87 million*.
“MySpace allows bands and fans to all interact directly with each other which can be really great for everyone concerned. This is our way to say thanks to the MySpace community for their support of this big tour and also to wish them a very happy birthday!” said Silverchair’s Ben Gillies.
“To have arguably two of the biggest Aussie bands in history join forces to help celebrate our 1st birthday is quite a coup for our users. We’re thrilled to have them on board to mark this important milestone,” said Rebekah Horne, General Manager, MySpace.com.
MySpace Secret Shows are exclusive, FREE concerts held throughout Australia featuring some of the biggest international and Australian artists. The only way MySpace users can find out specific details about this and future concerts is by adding Secret Shows as a ‘friend’ to their profile via www.myspace.com/secretshowsau. This will guarantee they are the first to find out details as they are made available. When all is revealed, entry to the show is on a first-come-first-served basis.
Stay tuned!
