You may have seen the awesome new video, but Silverchair's new single "Reflections Of A Sound" is now available digitally on a special EP. The single is taken from the band's album "Young Modern" and comes with three additional exclusive B-Side tracks featuring 'Straight Lines (live)'.

SILVERCHAIR RESCHEDULE 4 SHOWS DUE TO DANIEL JOHNS THROAT INFECTION

Silverchair has postponed four shows on their current U.S. Tour to allow singer, Daniel Johns to recover fully from a case of laryngitis.

Daniel caught the common viral infection of the throat earlier this week after flying Sydney/Los Angeles/Toronto/New York/Los Angeles over just four days. It severely impeded his vocal performance on the "Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on Tuesday.

While his Doctor had initially been hopeful that Daniel's laryngitis would clear up "in a day or two", he has since advised that the Silverchair frontman should "avoid singing for 4 to 6 days" in order to be guaranteed of making a full recovery. The Doctor also advised that singing during this time could risk permanent damage to Daniel's voice so the band has no choice but to reschedule these four important shows and to sincerely apologize to those who will be inconvenienced by this change of plans.

The San Diego, Anaheim, Los Angeles and San Francisco gigs will now take place in mid-November at the same venues. New dates are as follows:

Anaheim - House Of Blues - Rescheduled for Wednesday November 14
San Diego - House Of Blues - Rescheduled for Friday November 16
San Francisco - The Independent - Rescheduled for Sunday November 18
Los Angeles - The Wiltern - Rescheduled for Tuesday November 20

Patrons holding tickets for the original dates simply need to retain them and use them to gain admission to the rescheduled dates. Otherwise they can seek refunds from their place of purchase.

Dates for the rest of Silverchair's Young Modern World Tour are not expected to be affected in any way by this temporary throat infection.

Again, while it is obviously beyond their control, Silverchair apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this unfortunate turn of events.

ACROSS THE GREAT DIVIDE BREAKS SALES RECORDS IN TOWNSVILLE!

Regional Queenslanders joined their New South Wales counterparts today with news that tickets for POWDERFINGER and SILVERCHAIR’s Across the Great Divide show at Townsville’s Entertainment Centre has SOLD OUT, breaking all previous venue records!

In the ONLY extra show to be announced for regional Queensland, Townsville Entertainment Centre will host a second and final night of POWDERFINGER & SILVERCHAIR on Tuesday, 9 October.

This Townsville show joins the other repeat performances in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Wollongong and Newcastle. Tickets for the second Townsville date are sale from 9am tomorrow.

MESSAGE FROM DANIEL JOHNS

"In an interview I did this morning on Triple J I made a stupid joke. It’s just been brought to my attention that some people in the media have taken my dumb joke seriously so I want to set the record straight. At no time have I ever “smoked a joint” with Bono or Peter Garrett. They are both well known to be very anti-drugs so that’s why I assumed everybody would know I was joking when I made that comment. Clearly that wasn’t the case and I feel sick that I might have caused embarrassment to two people who I admire so much.

I was fortunate enough to once get to play them some of my demo’s but I swear that no joints were involved. I guess I felt a bit like a namedropper mentioning them on the radio so that’s why I added a silly throwaway joke. I accept that drug use is no laughing matter and I apologize sincerely for any confusion or harm I’ve caused. Just by the way, this is one of the reasons why I hate doing interviews. I really should just shut up and stick to singing."

“YOUNG MODERN” NOMINATED FOR J AWARD/”DIORAMA” TO FEATURE IN TV SPECIAL

It was announced today that Silverchair’s latest highly acclaimed album - Young Modern - has been shortlisted for this year’s “J Award”. The prestigious prize for the Australian album of the year is decided by the key staff at the country’s national youth broadcaster, Triple J.

Young Modern is the third album to be added to this year’s “J Award” shortlist. The award’s winner will be announced following the ARIA Awards in late November as the climax of the station’s Ausmusic month special programming.

Silverchair are currently in the U.S. preparing for an appearance tomorrow on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”. However the group’s frontman Daniel Johns said, "there's no radio station in the world like Triple J. They have a totally artistic focus that shapes the musical taste of our whole country. For them to single out Young Modern in this way therefore really means a lot to Ben and Chris and I. It's the kind of respect that's very hard to earn so we feel honoured and we don't take it lightly."

In the days before the “J Award” existed, Silverchair’s previous release (2002’s Diorama) was voted “Album of the Year” by Triple J’s listeners. That disc will be the subject of a new documentary to be aired in Australia on SBS TV at 8.30pm on Saturday July 28. The show will launch a new TV Series called “Great Australian Albums”. Subsequent episodes will feature Crowded House’s “Woodface”, The Triffids’ “Born Sandy Devotional” and The Saints’ “I’m Stranded”. Silverchair will return to Australia in late August for a huge co-headlining tour with Powderfinger. The event will visit over 20 metropolitan and regional centers around the country through September and October and tickets for all shows went onsale today with a bang. But if you can’t wait till then to see Silverchair you may want to tune into the ABC tomorrow night when they'll screen a special behind-the-scenes documentary on Triple J's "One Night Stand" gig in Cowra. This special event occurred in April and was attended by over 10,000 people. They were treated to performances by Silverchair, Midnight Juggernauts, Behind Crimson Eyes, triplejunearthed.com winners Flatline Drama and local Cowra band, Leap of Faith.
