Songs that are Better Live

Postby Reino » Tue Sep 21, 2010 10:56 am

Reflections of a Sound, this song is the worst song on the album (IMO) but its soo good live! :D
If the guitar track was louder in Emotion Sickness, I wouldnt have it on this list, but its not loud, so it is.

My list would be:
Frogstomp:
Israel's Son (especially during Neon Ballroom and Diorama era)
Faultine (The rock in rio version is great)
Madman (They used to jam some crazy parts during it)

Freak Show:
Slave (people always jump in this one)
The Door (the song improved a looooot since it was written)
Petrol & Chlorine (it sounds more "full" live)

Neon Ballroom:
Emotion Sickness (I simply love this song during ATN tour, the instrumental part in the ending is great)
Anthem For The Year 2000 (crowd singing "we are the youth" is cool)
Steam Will Rise (musical "orgasm" hahaha)

Diorama:
The Greatest View (I like how Daniel sings it live and how Ben puts more strength into it)
The Lever (it sounds better)

Young Modern:
Young Modern Station (it sounds more rock and roll)
Mind Reader (also, more rock and roll)
Insmonia (Daniel gets people clapping, which changes the mood of it)

Frogstomp: Israel's Son (since Neon Ballroom tour they did great versions, specially at ATN Tour), Faultline (Rock in Rio III version was really great), and Pure Massacre (Rock in Rio III was great too)

Freak Show: Slave, Freak, Petrol & Chlorine and The Door. (I think The Door is one of the most Silverchair's boring songs. But sound fantastic since ATN TOUR)

Neon Ballroom: Emotion Sickness (ATN TOUR), Anthem For the Year 2000, Ana's Song (ATN TOUR), Miss You Love (ATN TOUR), Paint Pastel Princess and Steam Will Rise.

Diorama: The Greatest View (more energy), Tuna in the Brine (some gigs of YM TOUR), The Lever (Best Silverchair's song to finish a show.), After All These Years and Asylum

Young Modern: If You Keep Losing Sleep, Reflections of a Sound, The Man That Knew Too Much (2006 gig's), Insomnia, Sleep All Day

I forgot Mind Reader too. I really like The Man That Knew Too Much and Mind Reader 06's versions.

Anyway... this version of Across the Night (YM TOUR) was fu***** great

ATN Tour was a very strong time for live versions! all the songs they played during this tour were certainly better than the album versions!

My husband and I have always "disliked" Without You on the album. It's not so much that it doesn't fit on the album, it's just a bit meh compared to some of the epic songs on there.. but experiencing it live is another story. It's simply AMAZING.

Honestly though, I find I prefer all their songs live, because I love they change up things, whether little or big (like an extended 10 minute Emotion Sickness.. mmm)

This is another element we can add instead of making a new thread...

Songs that I can deal with being extended are the following:
Emotion Sickness
Steam Will Rise
Israels Son (Only if Closing the set)
The Door (sounds good with the teeth solo and jam sesh in 2002 and onwards)
The Lever
If You Keep Losing Sleep (Jam sesh at the end sounds good)
Low (Jam sesh at the end sounds good)

Songs I cant stand being extended are the following:
Ana's Song (We get the point of the song, just play it, stop fucking around)
Israels Son (If its not the last song)
Insomnia (over doing it)
Mind Reader (Over doing it!!)

:D
