I mean experimental in terms of how the band's musical style has evolved.

That's basically what I was trying to say in my original post :) There's obviously no way of knowing the type of experimentation we'll be hearing from this next record.

Experimental? lol They're just following the latest trends with the synths and stuff like that. I'm sure this next album will be full of that rubbish. YM too was just a desperate attempt at commercial success which bombed, thankfully.

I had been a fan back before they were even called Silverchair (Innocent Criminals) but turned my back on them the first time I heard Straight Lines. When a good solid rock band turned into just another pop band. Actualy I tell a lie I knew it was over when I saw them at Clipsal 500 in '06, Shihad blew them off the stage, SC were that boring. That was when I pretty much knew Wave Aid in '05 was just a one off.

Their best era was the Freak Show/Neon Ballroom era before they morphed into the Daniel Johns Trio. Dissociatives flopped so he just rolled that horrible band into SC. I never thought much of Frogstomp (been more than decade since I've even listened to it) or Diorama. They should've remained 'broken up' because it's all been downhill at a rate of knots since then, DJ even turning into the very thing he used to say he hated (loud mouthed jock/popular kids from school). Now he's just a washed up rockstar begging for attention.

The highlights for me before they became the DJT were the performance on Recovery on the eve of Freak Show's release and the awesome set at Rock In Rio in 2001:

Seriuosly!

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but what a waste of time and energy to register onto a forum just to go on about how much you no longer like a band. Why not devote that time to posting some place where you can say positive things about something you actually do like?

You could've just stoped after saying you're not a fan of anything besides Freak Show or NB..."there was no need for a character assassination" *flings paper across the room*

quite a few of us jumped in to question BigVal's opinion, so why just quote Blank?

Um. thank you  Why just me?? I wasn't even the first one, I was laughing at someone else's response

Could this be personal, therefore I'm not entitled to an opinion? Don't get it, I'm always nice to Reino...sarcastic sometimes, but always pleasant . Noone take it personally, I have a naturally sarcastic tone :)

Did I miss the memo about not being able to respond to opinions now?? I thought that was the main focus of the stables thread?? I'm confused :? I'll put it in caps so people understand it better...EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN OPINION, HOWEVER, BE WARNED THAT WHEN EXPRESSING SAID OPINION YOU WILL MORE THAN LIKELY ENCOUNTER SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T AGREE WITH YOUR THOUGHTS. THIS IS THE WHOLE POINT TO HAVING A "DISCUSSION" FORUM.
Just one last time for giggles...I AM NOT FOR BANNING OR PEOPLE CENSORING THEMSELVES :)

If you read my post again, you'll see that not only did I have a joking tone but that it wasn't about not being able or allowed to dislike the band (I honestly don't give a shit who dislikes Silverchair) but more about making your first and only post so far mainly about attacking someone...just a suggestion here, but "Hello, my name is so and so blah, blah, blah. then...God, I f*ckin' hate Silverchair's new direction and Daniel Johns is the biggest ass on the planet" ...better start imo  Again, you can start posting anyway you want, but don't expect everyone to stay quite. Let's all just not say what we think and complete the boring chairpage forum circle!

Rant over :)

I say we all just drop a giant Valium. Oh boy....

Don't worry, Blank. Remember back when YM dropped and people did the same thing? They signed up just to bitch about the album and how much it sucked? And if I'm not mistaken, people made similar posts as yours...

And when this new album comes along there will be more. Moar, moar, moar.

Jim Carrey can sing.

I'm drunk as fuck.
