I have been obsessed ever since.

I can still hear my mum yelling at me;

My story is pretty much in line. It was early 2001, I thought I was getting into music (really I was listening to all the heavy stuff with not much substance). I heard Freak on Kerrang! TV and loved it. I then heard Tomorrow and AFTY2K and decided to purchase an album. I really wanted Freakshow but the shop only had Neon Ballroom. So I purchased it thinking, 'heavy metal'.
I return home with my friend and I place Neon Ballroom on my CD Player. Needless to say I did not expect the opening bars of Emotion Sickness. Suprisingly, I didn't reject the music as 'girly' and gave it a chance. Upon further listens I fell deeply in love with the album (it was different and spoke to me), soon it became my High School album and they became my favourite/most listened to band. I then got the two other albums for Christmas and thought highly of them.

THEN months later the heavens opened, Diorama came out. Without question Neon Ballroom and Diorama changed my life. Can't say anything more strongly about the two albums than that.

My 'chair obsession sort of fizzled out with the release of Young Modern. Not because it's a bad album - maybe I'm just finally growing up. YIKES!

I was first introduced to Silverchair by my classmate back in college in 99. She was carrying this magazine with silverchair in the cover and i was like who is that and she said its silverchair. She started telling me how obssessed of a fan she was and she even went to their only concert in the Philippines in 97. Neon Ballroom was released that year and she told I should listen to the album. She made me listen to Miss You Love first and told me the story behind the song and i fell in love with it instantly. At that time i was into alternative music and stuff listening to a lot of the 90’s band and would only listen to the only rock radio station and wait for Silverchair to come on the radio all the time. It even came to a point that i would call in and request for MYL. So i listened to Neon Ballroom i dont know why but i only liked Miss You Love and Ana’s Song and maybe AFTY2K and never cared about rest of the album .

Then Diorama came out. Never decided to buy the album. How stupid of me. MTV gave “The Greatest View” a reasonable airplay and listened to the song most of the time. Started checking out chairpage only to read news about the band and thats when i learned the news of Dan’s reactive arthritis. Then later on I learned that the band decided to go on idefinite hiatus that’s when my love for Silverchair went into hiatus as well lol but i would check once in a while whats happening with the band. Until i graduated in college in 2003. But even after that i would still listen to MYL and Ana’s Song once in a while.

Last summer my love for silverchair came back after buying a laptop and i needed to add songs on my playlist. I still have MYL on my mp3 player so i decided to check out over silverchair songs over the internet and i was surprised that they are still around. And was even surprised that they came out with another album after Diorama. Listened to a few songs of Diorama and got hooked with Without You and it became my song for the summer. Thats whe i decided to buy Diorama over the internet coz its hard to find in record stores in my area. And downloaded Neon Ballroom over itunes and looked up for some live performances, watched their performances in youtube and all . I appreciated Young Modern like any other chair releases coz Silverchair is a great band and they know what they want with their music and wouldnt want to be influenced by record companies just to sell albums.

I started to respect Silverchair in 2006, I was watching a waveaid replay and I just loved it, I was into pretty mainstream bands in 2006 Wolfmother, Queen (even though its dead) and I suddenly got a change from Classical soundtracks (I have every Star Wars soundtrack ) to Rock. I had no idea who the band was that was performing the door, but I remembered the teeth solo.
Then one year later I was still listening to only Queen, Wolfmother and Lano & Woodley sing songs until,


Then I downloaded the whole YM album off the internet (legally ) then I thought this is pretty cool, recorded a cover of straight lines on piano, played it at a concert, then from late 2007 it was late, changed the channel to 2, tripple J was on.

Wow this song is awesome, 2 months later, b'day, freak and Neon Ballroom 2x pack, then bought frogstomp later, then Diorama, then LFFS, then YM again limited edition though

Well, I remember myself reading some kind of grunge article in an spanish website and there was a list of essential grunge albums and... yep, Frogstomp was in that list.

I just went and downloaded a few random songs, I guess that I came across with a Diorama tune and I thought "fuck, wtf is that shit?" and I removed it all.
I know it sounds stupid. I was 16 and the only thing I was listening to was Nirvana, Seether's early work and that kind of grungy bands.

But a few months later, I saw Seether playing Israel's Son and though the cover sucked a little I decided to go and search that song and give Silverchair another chance.
I liked the song, but (and I know it sounds lame) I thought it was too heavy.

However, I decided to get a copy of Frogstomp and finally I loved it. Freak Show was the next. Even though the sound was a little bit different from the first album, it became one of my favorite rock albums too.

Now I think I was too young to appreciate Neon Ballroom and Diorama. But Frogstomp and Freak Show just gave me what I needed. Fresh, powerful, angsty rock... I thought it was better than anything else I liked before.
Then my girlfriend and I bought Diorama and though it took me a long time, I've finally discovered the album's magic. Simply amazing, a piece of art.
Neon Ballroom's very good, but Diorama shine, and most of albums don't use to shine.
That album helped me to open my mind. Without Diorama, I couldn't have appreciated a so many bands that mean a lot to me.

I'd like to write more and be more specific, but is not easy to me to sum it all up. During 4 years I've been listening to Silverchair a lot and my feelings have changed. Now I listen to other bands, but I can't compare them to the Chair, I've just put them in another level.
I registered here because I don't know any Silverchair fans beyond a few old friends, and I really want to share everything I have and everything I know about them with all you.

They will always be my favorite band and Daniel one of my biggest musical influences.

I had just graduated high school in 1995, and happened to be watching Much Music, and heard Tomorrow from another room and went walking to the tv transfixed.

I like to stay here, because I grow up (my teenage years) with Silverchair. Now, I still enjoying their first albums, but when I was 16 I couldn't stand Dissociatives' and now being almost 20 their only album is one of my favorites. That's one of the things I like of Chair's music, that every album they release is different!

I forgot to say I'm really excited about the new album, I'll write a review for the magazine I write for when it comes out!

To tell the truth.. i just cant remember much, its so many years ago now, but it was back in 1996. remember that i was the only one at my school who liked them. But i had a friend who went to a different school than mine.. and we used to skip school just to sit around an listen to Silverchair. But other than that, those times are pretty much just a blur to me.

I listen to them all the time up to 2004 and then my life got really stressed out and i kinda forgot all about them till 2007 when Young Modern came out and i felt in love with them again.. And it just couldnt been a more perfect time.. because the album helped me through some really hard years.. and it still does.

I heard "Tomorrow" on my local radio station and loved it! Then I met my high school best friend who totally freaked out when I told her that I loved the song. She let me listen to the full album and I ran out to purchase it for myself. The rest is history. That was 1995 so....almost 15 years strong

ana's song came out when i was a freshmen in high school. my mom was anorexic at the time (and had been for 6 years prior), so the song really hit home. i've loved it, and them ever since.

A looong long time ago, my brother didn't want his frogstomp CD anymore and never really got into them so he gave it to me and ever since that day they became my favorite band.

Around 2002 I used to see the music videos for Freak, Ana`s Song and The Greatest View on Kerrang TV all the time. especially Freak - that was played alot. At the time i wasn't into music but then in 2008 i decided to look up Freak on youtube and got into the band. I love all their stuff although Freak and The Greatest View bring back loads of memories which is probably why i love Diorama and Freakshow the most.

WELL since i'm new here (hi y'all!) i figured this would be a good place to start.

i didn't know until NB that tomorrow wasn't pearl jam. really. i've always been influenced by my older brothers as far as music goes, so i was 8 years old playing nirvana in my tape player, or manson when i was 10. i stumbled upon NB through my brother's friend and totally loved it, and then heard more of frogstomp and thought it was groovy. the real obsession started a few years ago when i looked up the ATN video because i'm a pretty big guy pearce fan. that was it for me. i sang it for days, bought diorama and fell in love. it increased with YM and hearing the dissos. now i'm flat out crazy.
