Ugh can't say I've really enjoyed a single new album this year, not that I can think of anyway. The only one that I listened to was the new Muse one which from a small listen was really dissapointing. But there are so many new bands and bands on peoples lists I haven't even heard of, I am so behind when it comes to new music. :? I tend to only buy stuff from bands that are really well known, like 'oh foo fighters have a new album, better go get it' etc. I used to be good at picking up on new bands before they became huge (like white stripes) but lately not so much. :?

Best music of 2009 for me was:

Image

Pearl Jam - Backspacer... Obviously. I mean, you all expect it from me... But it is a great album. Has a bit of everything that makes PJ awesome. :)

The Tragically Hip - We Are the Same. I'll bet I'm the only one to pick this one! It's been semi-controversial among Hip fans, because it's possibly their least rock album ever. But it's so subtly beautiful! :) The strings and the lyrics and everything meld together so well.

I feel like I'm missing something, but most other albums I bought either came out in another year or didn't completely absorb me like these did...

This album is special, I have to get it, I will admit I did think Powderfinger werent that talented and I had no interest, the fact that they have stayed together "After All These Years" its just a great album. And I think it might be the last. :(

My faves from 2009 are:

Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix

Image

311 - Uplifter

Image

Muse - The Resistance

Image

Pearl Jam - Backspacer

Saw Muse, Phoenix and 311 at a local radio station's Christmas gig the other night, so seeing them live was the icing on the cake for me

....I'm thinking now that - in this downloading age - it would be more appropriate/accessible to make a "Favourite songs of 2009" thread. Someone else do it please, I dont want to be the "list your favourite of everything" thread dude, lol.

Ah but that's different to seeing lists of people's favourite songs of the year, and you could be listening to music from any time. But I don't care, lol.
