The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Postby Revolution Baby » Sat Nov 07, 2009 1:27 pm

I've stolen this idea from the weekend newspaper that I read. It's kind of like a "hot or not" list.
The idea is to list three things that are good, three things that are bad and one thing that is ugly. Provide a little description or rant next to each.
This is about your life and your opinions.

Go! :D
Q. How many indie music fans does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: I have that joke on vinyl.

Good:

1. Cats - because they provide humor and cuddles
2. Mead - because it tastes good and gives you a buzz. lol
3. Photography - for me, personally, it saves me.

Bad:

1. Disease - because it's awful.
2. Poverty - because I can't do anything to help as much as I'd like to.
3. Douchebags - self explanatory.

Ugly:

1. Judgmental people - i think they cast judgment on others because they'll never be pleased with themselves, and that's their ugly problem
2. Spoiled, bratty people - they are selfish and aren't considerate of others and act like douchebags. lol
3. Working in food service - it SUCKS! lol
I love Marty.

3. I like myself in general.

Bad
1. not making enough money
2. not taking good enough care of myself hence constant tiredness/sickness
3. not working hard enough at the music

Ugly
still feel residual guilt over circumstances surrounding the death of a friend. i will live with this forever.

I like how Reino and I went overboard and didn't follow directions by posting three ugly things as well. That'll teach me to skim a post. Sadly, there's enough ugliness around the world to draw from. :(
I love Marty.

THE GOOD:

Cooking from scratch - it's lovely to spend a few hours in the kitchen on a weekend, making a delicious dinner to share with others. Wine is compulsory.

A small outdoor concert on a hot summer night - this is extra enjoyable if the band is worth seeing, not just some "it" band that all the hipsters show up to talk through. Makes me really enjoy living in Perth.

Singing loudly in the car - I'm sure many people have laughed at me, the crazy person driving next to them. I'm probably singing along to the Bangles.

THE BAD:

Selfish cyclists - Last time I checked, riding in the middle of the road, against traffic, straight through a red light was illegal.

Drunk drivers - There's no excuse.

Budget cuts - I thought the government was supposed to do what's right for "the people".

THE UGLY:

Fighting at work - I don't have the time or mental energy to deal with someone who is having a power struggle with me.

Haven't you heard Rev? Helping people is just the liberals way of turning everyone into evil socialists. 8)

Uh hem...

Anyhew, my turn!

The Good:

1) My wife, who is beautiful inside and out, funny as hell, and understands and loves me for who I am. :)

2) Friends who care, they know who they are. ;)

3) Craig Ferguson, who can make me laugh despite any bad mood I might be in. Gods bless that friggin Scott! :P

The Bad:

1) Far right winger conservatives who spew out paranoid nonsense and call it patriotism.

2) Poverty and illness.

3) People with no sense of humor. It's the saddest thing in the world and there's too many of them out there!

The Ugly

Rush Limbaugh.
It’s been found again.
What? Eternity.
It’s the sun
Mingled with the sea.

The Good:

1) Love & Understanding - Love is not the whole answer. It needs to be coupled with understanding. When you understand who you love, you are closer and happier. Art has taught me this, and I love and understand him. :)

2) Creativity - Anything that helps us to emotionally connect to each other. There's a reason it's called humanities; it restores our hope and inspires us to go on.

3) Reason - Coupled with an open mind, it is the drink of water to the thirst of emotion. More people need to use it and not to justify their own fears, but to assuage them.

The Bad:

1) False Pride - When a person acts too egotistical to admit their own fault or errors, and they believe that their own pride is threatened by other points of view. It's often the root of great evils. The bad part is that it's way too common.

2) Indifference - The simple act of not recognizing and respecting someone else's feelings. Nobody wants to be the victim of it, so we should all avoid being indifferent.

3) Greed - It's good to be successful, but that doesn't mean you need to eliminate all other competition by being cutthroat. Some may say it's a right to be that way, to be selfish and greedy, but that's compensating for something else. Money and power doesn't solve all problems, it just makes new ones. Greed is almost a form of hate.

The Ugly

Parasites: Social, mental, and physical.

^^ God, get a room already. All the sickly sweet sentimentalism, together with the glib aphorisms wrapped up in candy-coated metaphors, and the declarations of love is making me gag. Lousy bleeding heart socialists.:P

kitty.bomb wrote:er.. which "jejune aphorisms" would you be referring to Doof?
I'm not sure you always understand what you're saying
Or maybe it's a joke I missed. In which case, carry on 8)
 That's true enough. By aphorism I was referring to something like "Coupled with an open mind, it is the drink of water to the thirst of emotion" though I suppose that might not be an aphorism per se. Maybe 'maxim' would have been better?

But yes, I was attempting a joke...I should get to bed before I start spewing more nonsense.

Edit: grammar.

I went back and read loa's thing again and I suppose you could apply that term to some of the stuff she said.. depends how you read it.
Also wasn't sure if you were just teasing them or actually annoyed. now I know! 8)
