I adore Rufus. I don't find his voice lacking emotion.... In fact, he is so full of emotion that he can be hard to listen to sometimes. "Slideshow" is a great example.... And I adore his version of "Hallelujah"... "Oh What a World"....And his whole Rufus Does Judy! CD is golden. :D

Oh, i'm here and naturally, shocked by the amount of people who don't dig him. :o

Then again, I'm a bit biased. ;)

I love Diorama too. I adore Rufus, and to each their own. It's hard to compare any album out there to Diorama. :D

Actually, Bah, I think Krissy turned Debs on to Rufus... ;)

As for comparing to Diorama... I was listening to Queen the other day, and honestly it seems to me that Queen laid the ground work for Diorama to exist.

Well... maybe... or perhaps the Beach Boys and the Beatles more like.

In my opinion Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness by Smashing Pumpkins comes close. But I think I like it for completely different reason then Diorama.

And yeah, Diorama = best album ever.

I hear that more in the poppier moments of YM (as it's popesque but still so.... unique/fresh..). Just referring to how Freddie was so outside the box - we're used to it now because we all grew up on Queen, but when you compare it to almost any music out today, Queen is still unique. That's something. I see Diorama as being way in 20-30 years. :)

Well I'm gonna agree with the Beach Boys thing. However naive it may sound, Pet Sounds does somewhat remind me of Diorama. Or rather Diorama reminds me of Pet Sounds. Very orchestral and smooth. And none of the songs are long. They're all like 2:30 minutes long.

So yea, if you haven't heard Pet Sounds, you haven't heard music. :)

Ohohohohoh! and "Days Of Future Passed" by The Moody Blues. Like 80% of that album is straight up orchestra. The songs "The Afternoon (Tuesday Afternoon)" and "Nights In White Satin" are on that album. 8)

"In the Court of the Crimson King" - King Crimson 8)

I don´t think Diorama is the "best album ever".
I just think Diorama is the best album of the decade.

Grace and Diorama are constantly mud-wrestling for the number one spot in my mind...

I'm gonna go way out here and say that I think Diorama has nothing on Queen. Or, perhaps more importantly, Daniel's voice has nothing on Freddie's voice.
