What movie have you just seen?

Postby wheelyq » Fri Jan 25, 2008 2:00 pm

I was thinking about seeing "Youth Without Youth" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0481797/trailers-me60459433 , but I don't if it's out here.

Has anyone seen it?

I saw There Will Be Blood. It was visually nice, but I didn't want to go see it again.

Caught the very end of Vanilla Sky (which has now achieved midday movie status) because i could hear Sigur Ros as the soundtrack. I then fell asleep for about half an hour...

Have you seen "Open Your Eyes"? Vanilla Sky is a replica of Open Your Eyes. I like OYE better, the only negative is if you don't like listening to Spanish, but it has subtitles. Oh, it's very good... and Penelope Cruz in in both films, pretty crazy, eh?!

Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead did the score for that film, I'm curious to see/hear it..

I just finished watching the Stephen King mini-series version of The Shining. It was really good! and it had Uh-Huh in it from the little rascals...

Are you sure that guy from Radiohead did the score? There Will Be Blood takes place in the early 1900s?

Well, anyways TWBB was visually pretty cool, so I wouldn't say "don't see it".

Yes! I'm 101% sure. He didn't qualify to be nominated for any awards because a bulk of the soundtrack was already previously written by himself, it wasn't exclusive to the film. I think Popcorn Superheit Reciever is supposed to be in that film too.

Doesn't matter what timeframe the film is in... he composes contemporary classical music, with orchestras and whatnot.

Starring Daniel Day-Lewis
Paul Dano

Music by Jonny Greenwood

Anderson had been a fan of Radiohead's music and was impressed with Jonny Greenwood's scoring of the film Bodysong. While writing the script for There Will Be Blood, Anderson heard Greenwood's orchestral piece Popcorn Superhet Receiver, which prompted him to ask Greenwood to work with him. After initially agreeing to score the film, Greenwood had doubts and thought about backing out, but Anderson's reassurance and enthusiasm for the film convinced the musician to stick with the project.[27][28] Anderson gave Greenwood a copy of the film and three weeks later he came back with two hours of music recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London.[1]. The film also contains a Brahms Violin Concerto used as a motif.

Oh! Thanks I didn't know all that. I thought Radiohead, so that made me think of contemporary music. So this guy doesn't play in "the band" Radiohead, he does some of their orchestral stuff?
