interviewsover wrote:with him i don't have much converting to do. he heard me scream when i realized YM had come out (and heard me cuss b/c they hadn't released it in america yet when i read about it) so he had to know who i was making such a fuss over. he took it upon himself to go to chairpage and listen to as many songs as he could. now he's a total fanatic. he even tries to sing with an australian accent.

just mentioning that he might get to go with me made him promise to clean his room... a lot more. lol!

i enjoy kid free shows when they are really young but in his case, he's practically a teenager (or he thinks he is) and he would fit right in. 8)

omg that is TOO CUTE!!! I love the Australian accent bit. I hope Ezra is like that when he gets older. He's dancing to the album right now, hehe.

Cjohnson you'd spend your life savings on seeing them if they announced 30 Toronto shows. They're great and all but I can't imagine seeing them so many times in a year. I will however go to the next one of they announce it.

I think I'll go to the Boulder date. OK is closer but it's on a Monday. I'm not looking forward to driving 8 hours across Nebraska alone.

road trip :-)

Postby johnsy79 » Sat Sep 29, 2007 3:36 pm

hey folks, it's Patrice if anyone gives a rat's bum :-)
I know I only come on here whenever a new record or tour is announced , but I get more stoke if I save my readins till the excitement begins! Man, how many times has this board changed? lol. But I don't mind, however I was bummed about the mailings and country numbers...I was always so proud to be #US38!! I even have this lil ole scrapbook from the 90's and it has all the correspondence letters and signed photos from before LAS began. It's like we all grew up together in a way, and after the US debacle with Diorama, I am just so effing stoked for the boys and their US success. They were my very first interview at CMJ when they performed at the late, great Academy and I've never stuck with a band like this one. I used to joke "oh one day i'll be REALLY OLD in my 30s and still seeing them...." and guys, here i am in my 30s gettin all the stoke from reading all the posts! love the energy on the board and all the familiar people. Cheers to you all!!

I'm a Long islander from NY, but I sold my house and stashed my stuff in mom's garage in Atlanta, then went to California (Venice Beach) for July, THEN I found out about the shows and bought all 4 in cali...but they were cancelled. So here I am about to take another road trip to Cali specifically to see the guys. Me, My yellow lab Thor, my taylor guitar in my Jeep Wrangler is heaven....add SC tour...good times! I could do the whole tour but I've got heaps of medical issues and have got to take it easy....but I thought I'd kick it a few extra days in Santa Monica/Hollyweird and go to the Houston and New orleans shows before i head back to mom's in atlanta. I'm actually allowed to bring my dog because he's been trained at age 4 to be my service dog and he walks me instead of me using a cane...but I don't think I could ever do it...his poor ears! But i know he loves the music's high notes because he "ah-rooooos" along with Daniel lol. But he's cool in a motel for a few hours or so, as long as his cartoons are on (im serious lol, he needs his Fosters Imaginary friends fix).
So yea, if anyone is thinking about a road trip to cali and hitting up a couple shows that are on the way back home (sans SLC/Boulder, but like the TX and LA shows), I just found out there's this new gadget on MAPQUEST where you can plan a trip - not just driving directions to and fro, but like a trip with like 10 different stops and get exact directions from say Hollyweird to Tempe to OK City to TX to LA blahblah blah.....it's rad and free. I checked the whole tour from Disney to New orleans and its looking like 5-7 hours a day of driving (mostly 5 tho). You guys should really check it out tho, its so helpful!

I'm doing a 2 week holiday in CA anyway, but then i'll prolly hit Tempe, TX and the final show in New Orleans. Most def the final show cuz thats like a nice big reward for driving all the way back across the country! :-) Just wanted to let you know about that MAPQUEST thing and the driving per day.

And for those worrying about their city, if they keep following the schedule as they did on the 1st 3 records (which so far they have), they'll be a nice fat tour once they release a 2nd single or so, and a farewell tour (for the support of this record). (I'm talkin US & ofcourse like Toronto...MAN I miss those days of MuchMusic and the radio recordings and koolhaus and the Grand....always kickass memories from Canada!).

I feel like its frogstomp/freak/neon all over again except now I have money and no mortgage...but after 2 years of being bedridden from my rare benign issues in my hip and spine...well I am restless and am looking forward to being a gypsy and doing tour and travelling with my bestest pup. Like a wise fan posted before, you never know whats going to happen, so live in the moment and no worries etc....I totally hear ya...being so sick and helpless and having my best friend/husband (who I've been with for 16 years) well he bailed on me, i lost my house and beach bungalow and one of my dogs...I am so sick of that pity party....this record and tour have really given me something to look forward to all last spring, and now for November. The cancelled CALI shows were a blessing in disguise for me. I'll be stoked to see some familiar faces too. whatever we all choose to do, lets just live in the moment and enjoy life and be stoked. i know its easier for me to say since i finished university and my disability stops me from working, but I make do...even if it takes me way longer to drive cuz i need to rest, even if I need my old-lady walker instead of my cane at one of the shows, so be it! (and if ya see me, say hi!) I'll be the girl with the big yellow lab in the obnoxious turquoise jeep wrangler with the top down smiling like its my birthday. I need 2 more surgeries this year, but for these few weeks, Ill be feeling so alive and I wont let the pain get me down...i'll just rest the whole day and save my energy...u know?

so yea, i have no regrets with a long and personal post because most of you know who i am anyway....and i know i disappear sometimes...but I've been stuck in a medical nightmare that I'm slowly creeping out of. But having something else to think about, to plan, to look forward to...that makes all the difference in my world.

Lastly, I may have an extra ticket for all 4 CALI shows....I always buy 2 even tho I always go solo...just incase u know? Brit got her tix, and my bro prolly isn't coming with me and the almighty THOR, so PM or post if anyone needs. Ok, Cheers to you all! its good to be back and reading all your happy posts!

Take it easy!
Patrice :-)

I remember seeing you on here from time to time...welcome back :)

That "wise" fan was me  I said that because like you, I have just recently come through a couple of rough years with my own health and my best friend being very sick aswell (she's going on this trip to see the chair with me) We've both been fans for years! Being sick tought us both to just live in the moment and take life one day at a time, so I understand where you're coming from.
