it does kill me however that dan deleted all that music. sure, maybe it wasn't as good as what he ended up writing for diorama, but good lord....imagine all that music...gone forever. i bet dan doesn't even remember most of it.

It is the only song that made it from the 2 hours of deleted tape Daniel recorded before what would become Diorama.
Daniel has said many times that he deleted that whole tape and started fresh. Where do you get your supposed information from?

The book, 'A New Tomorrow'.
I didn't say it was neccesarily from that tape reel, but it is stated that of all the songs on that tape, OWM was re-recorded for the album.

I could live with another album like NB!!
then again I suppose it wouldnt really help Dan..

I had it BLASTING on my discman while I was on the bus earlier today… Daniel’s hoarsey voice belting out the lyrics, the heavy guitar riff… I don’t know how I wasn’t dancing in my seat.

i remember them saying something like WY were basically the same at NB's but the feeling of it were pure NB, which is not that hard to imagine if u think of that melody catching more 'cries' feel.
i think that if you're a musician you can tell something in a interview thats not 100% truth even if you're not lying at all.
i really DO think that Dan didnt delete all those takes, and even less forgot about them. If they hadnt stuff in january 2001 but he were some months after recording the album...and also you look at the edgy difference of the songs writting, its not that hard to think what songs came first and what did later. i think that lots off the diorama stuff was just re-built pos-NB takes. just giving to the song more diorama-ish feeling.
Just quit off all those arrangement layers in TMONE in example or imagine a more crude sound to music and voices in WY, WUYS and of course OWM and TL.
btw, and going back to the topic, OWM is very underrated by the fans and i absolutely love it since i first heard it at Rio's. Its a shame that they didnt take it back when the tour re-started in 2003 (and all those keyboards in LFFAA ar just terrible). i love also the demo version, mainly because of the pure sound and the distortion effect.

I didnt like one way mule for a long time, but it grew on me, it really is awesome, rocking, even better live. love it!

Hmm, ok. I'll take your word for it. I haven't read that book.. I only read the first one.
