Haha they are strikingly similar, including the drums going to a half time feel right at the end. I like Lie To Me better though.

I know Tourettes and I don't see the similarity.

I think you might be thinking of 'Man in the box' by Alice in Chains. I remember watching that grunge program a long time ago and I think that was the song I thought of as well.

well i listened to the Mad Season song "i dont know anything" and the guitar riff used of slave is definately a ripoff of that song.

The mad season song uses the riff once at the start i think, but the silverchair song uses that same riff all the way thru the song.

I was dissapointed to hear the rippoff. but then again i'm happy because since neon ballroom Dan has been totally original in his songwriting and because i'm more of a fan of neon ballroom onwards it sort of makes me feel good that he's doing original stuff.. they were in highschool afterall back then.

i've always know that silverchair just gets "better and better" and i'm just so damn happy that i like Young Modern the most of all. its a good feeling.

here's a live version of the song in question: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlXSfvIq4Mg

the studio version sounds far more similar than this live version i've posted. listen to the beginningpart cos thats all that matters although it doesn't sound quite as rippoffish live as i said. If you want listen to the song from teh album it'll make freakshow fans cry

I dont mind the song either, I'm just glad mad season never got big! I'm willing to engage in a coverup ! :D

I remember, years ago, I was listening to some part in Slave...sounded like something from a specific Korn song, made me think of Korn and then I found out Daniel was a fan of theirs then. Hmmm. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

The song "i don't know anything" by mad season came out in 1995 on their "above" album. Slave is indeed of ripoff of that song if you wanna put it that way because it came out in 1997.

Layne Staley wouldn't rip people off anyways...he's cooler than dan lol.

Yeah you got me wrong there - i meant - silverchair ripped off the guritar riff of the mad season song, it probobly just read the wrong way

....kinda, but you could say the same about most punk bands too....
-you know what else sounds similar...try the intro to Bush's "Little Things" with The Offspring's "Self-Esteem"

Try listening to The Offsprings "Self-Esteem" and Nirvanas "Smells Like Teen Spirit"... Then try listening to Nirvanas "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and Bostons "More Than a Feeling".

I don't know that particular Bush song, but Lie to Me is ridiculasly similar to tourettes. That said, I never noticed it until it was pointed out to me.
