Sports thread

Postby teri81979 » Tue Oct 12, 2010 7:23 am

Didn't know if there was a sports thread on here or not but wondering what is everyone favorite sports and teams.

I will start with mine

Football (American) college (Wisconsin badgers) and pro (Green Bay Packers)
Baseball (follow hubby's team St Louis Cardnials)
basketball I will watch college as pro became boring after the Michael Jordan era ended
Hockey I will only watch during the playoffs
Nascar (favorite driver is Dale Earnhardt Jr) not currently interested in as the same person (Jimmie Johnson) is on his way to his 5th straight championship

Yes. Good thread :)

Football: NRL - NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS....long time supporter, always get passionate about them...I'm sure there are a few knights supporters on here!

NFL - Minnesota Vikings

Hockey: Calgary Flames!
"...and that's when I realised that's why they call it a clock radio...because it's got both!"

Huge baseball and basketball fan. All about the Blue Jays and the Raptors. I'm actually excited for the Raptors season minus Chris Bosh, especially since the Jays enjoyed an entertaining season minus Roy Halladay.

Not a huge hockey or football fan, though I'll cheer for the Red Wings, the Senators and the Eagles (though McNabb leaving was a tough blow to my fanship).

Also a huge fan of MMA fighting. I'd like to start MMA training next year after softball season is over. Hopefully one, I'll be allowed, and two, that I don't kill myself. If I can train myself down to the 170lb weight class I should be ok.
Convention seems...an easier path.

you can if you want  . I was born and raised in wisconsin but have lived in Missouri the past 7 yrs hence me rooting for both the packers and badgers. I think I maybe one of the few americans here that can proudly say I have been to lambeau field in Green Bay, WI not once but twice (first time was during a school field trip to a museum in 1989 and the second was in 1998 for a preseason game against the New Orleans Saints that ended up being a bore fest after halftime plus I was trying to make sure my dad didn't move much as he was drunk (we went with my mom's boss and his son)

I don't like to watch sports on tv and I don't cheer for anything, the only event I like watching is the world cup!

I like to practice sport, it's been a month I'm taking swimming classes and I love it, I also love to play soccer and table tennis.

soccer is the only sport I don't like partly because my younger bro was in leagues during his younger yrs.
It was the parents of the kids that decided to coach from the sidelines and my parents were notorious of it

soccer is like religion in Brazil, which kinda influenced me to dislike watching sports. Like, some people's lives are soccer, they only talk about it, they get angry if someone doesn't like the team they cheer for, and there are even cases of people killing each other because of it. I am one of the guys who doesn't like soccer and has to listen to everybody saying "you're not Brazilian" or that I'm crazy...

but I like playing soccer, I'm not good though hahhhahahaha

I usually say "is it really truth that soccer is all you have in your life?"

It's the same here in Denmark - only thing is that our national team is crap and always looses :-)

I'm not really into sports much, but the past 5 years I've been really into speedway - which is weird because it's a really 'small' sport and something noone really pays attention to - especially in cities :-). I only have 1 friend who likes it too, but we watch it religiosly together and love it. Everyone thinks I'm weird for liking it, but I don't care!
