What do you mean by the LAS ending? What did they say? Are they going to stop having updates on what the guys are doing? (by the way I just mean LAS, not Silverchair in general. I know that they've stopped.)

Since Silverchair is quiet now, it's a good time to listen to Tool! I guess it's always a good time to listen to them.

Silverchair and their music have been part of my life since 1994. When I first heard them in high school, it was the start of my "musical exploration years", and those years haven't stopped. I'll admit that I haven't listened to the first two albums for ages, but last night on JJJ Israel's Son was played and it took me back to old, fond memories. I will have to have a Silverchair listen-a-thon one of these weekends. I was kind of expecting this to happen, and obviously it's right for them and a difficult decision to have made. I wish Daniel, Ben and Chris happiness and luck with whatever they do. :)
Q. How many indie music fans does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: I have that joke on vinyl.

So, if this isn't a good time to come crawling out of the lurking woodwork, there never will be...

In the hey-day of late 2007, you knew me as wishiwasnat or Wishy, and for crazy personal reasons I was forced unhappily into lurk mode after making so many wonderful friends on these boards. I never expected to miss an online forum the way that I did, but the camaraderie of people all over the world, brought together at first by their love of this band and their music and then kept together because of the fun and support and respect and true sense of community...wow, how could you not? I found myself here during a very polarizing time in my life...and I'm so thankful for it, for the memories of late night laughs and introspection, for the sense of belonging, and for the support and the friendship and love that all began with the love of Silverchair. :D

I was a fan since Frogstomp and remember hearing Diorama for the first time, thinking Wow, this is REALLY something special. One thing that struck me was that even though YM was kind of a love it-or-hate it record, by and large the discussion about it around here was fun and respectful. My fingers will remain crossed that at some point in the future there will be a new creative spark to debate, whether it's Dan's or Ben's or Chris' or Silverchair's.

Until then, cheers, friends.

Diana :D

It is a little sad...an end of an era so to speak. But as long as Daniel keeps making music, I'll be happy.

Wow I really can't believe this. I just now read the email a little while ago as I haven't been online in a few days now. I was so shocked when I read it. I honestly can't believe they are done. I know they claim it's not a break up but I'm not buying it. I have loved them ever since they came out here in the states back in 1995. I don't understand what happened with them. I really wonder if it's just that they couldn't come to an agreement for this new album on how it should sound etc. and it tore them apart musically. I have to say I also don't like the way they have announced this. I mean really, an email?! I would of hoped they would of at least maybe did a farewell tour for the fans. But I'm guessing they are not doing that to keep up with the claims that this is just a break. I really wish they would of done this differently. A last tour, a last album, something for closure for the fans that have followed and loved them for so long. I really hope it is just a break, hell it's already been 4 years, but I'm not very optimistic about that. I feel like the last 2 concerts I went to in 2007 will be the last time I ever see them again  It's very sad and I will miss them a great deal. I'm hoping that at least Daniel will do other things so that I can at least see him and hear his great voice again live in concert. Maybe he will do a solo project, who knows, but heres hoping! I don't like the thought of not hearing his voice again in new songs, so I hope it happens!
When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I've held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me...

With the LAS closing I think that it is definitely the end for silverchair. You wouldn't close a fanclub unless it was truly the END!

They're ending the LAS, whom ever has a membership right now will receive a last "special" gift and that's it...

Daniel will still make very interesting music and take on new projects. I'm sure we'll get some kind of album after his film score is out of the way. I'd love to hear a new Dissociatives album.

i agree, with LAS ending, this REALLY feels like the end. it's nothing like what happened after diorama at all.. i think they just don't want to admit to themselves that it's a breakup :( of course a breakup is never 100% either. i don't like all the goodbyes on here dammit! :|
I have to return some videotapes.

good,be done making shitty music. you fucking faggots cry more about how you'll never get an official machina collecta mp3,while i rejoice. silverchair was so fucking cool back in the day, then something happened....maybe a penis found its way to daniels ass! at least now that they are broken up,they can save what dignity they had left and be remembered for 3 amazing albums,1 ok one,and one god-awful pop -disco revival buttfucking pirate rash end of a great band that is young modern. fuck you silverchair! i love you!
