I said in the other thread that I suspect the writer of the article put the word "former" in just as a nod to what Daniel was doing prior to the new film project. I don't think Daniel or the band would announce his departure from the band via a random web article. Either way, we'll know things...eventually.

I also agree (to some extent) with the person who started this thread. They did seem REALLY excited not only about the music they were creating in the studio, but onstage as well during the GTM shows. I personally thought the performances were some of the best I've seen in quite some time, very tight. They seemed full of energy and enthusiasm and Daniel's voice was in top shape imo...Ana's Song, Emotion Sickness and Without You (just to name a couple) sounded amazing to me! I don't like to speculate, but something definitely went wrong after those shows...not sure what. Hopefully they've put things on hold for a while and didn't scrap everything we were able to hear from the studio clips because it sounded really interesting and different.

Daniels voice was out standing at the GTM gigs, i thought we werent going to get a great performance because Bendigo was the first stop but emotion sickness vocals were awesome as well as anas song and freak

I am with everyone here on the board about wanting to know what's going on. I feel that chairpage has lacked good info for quite a while on the band. I'd even like to have something said from one of the members on what's going on with the band. To be honest I didn't care to much of the 2 new songs and the videos I watched (not many) neither were the fans. I think that Daniel is a great artist, but to change things up from album to album I am sure is difficult. For fans that want another album of heavy stuff you are not going to get that. I think that silverchair has lost popularity, I'd like them to get more recognized here in the states, and if it takes writing another song like 'tomorrow' I'd be okay with that. As a fan I don't like getting a silverchair album every 5 years, I know that a band deserves a break, but I wonder if all band members are into silverchair. I hope when Daniel finishes writing for the film that his heart is into silverchair 100%.

Yeah, the GTM shows last year were the best I'd seen them do in a long time. I thought that as a band they sounded even better than they did at the end of the Young Modern tour (and even then they were sounding great). Daniel's voice was in seriously good shape, and the band played really tight. Those GTM shows were some of the most rock n' roll intense performances I've seen from them since they came out with Neon Ballroom. Between that and how happy they seemed to be about the new album, I am really really surprised that things have been so quiet since then. They are definitely losing popularity and I'm not sure how many times they can just reappear five years later and still have momentum. We really, really need an update.

As a side thought, I think we should have at least gotten a Dissociatives album or something since Young Modern. It's a shame to think that it's been five years and that now everything is put on hold and no one knows what's going on.

According to an article I read the other day, Ben is in the studio working on a solo album/project while Daniel is working on the short film...

Album is officially but unofficially (b/c it has not been announced) put on hold...unless this is an unreliable source...

where in that article does it say ben is working on his own project? all i see it say is that he's on twitter. by the way, according to his friend on twitter, ben was in the studio last night playing violin... i still am hopeful this is for something sc related
