Interview TRanscript with Daniel & Chris
Much Music

Yvette of Mollies Revenge, guest interviewer: You started both of your North American tours in Canada, and I'm wondering if thats because you guys really like playing here or get a really good response?

Chris: Yeah, so far so good. There's never been any negative stuff except losing stuff at the airport. We always seem to lose stuff wherever we play in Canada or anywhere, so...

Yvette: One thing I've read about in your bio is that you are comparing a freak show, the old travelling freak circus, to a modern rock band, which I can really relate to. I'm wondering, what are some of the freaky things that might have happened to you on the road? Got any freaky stories?

Daniel: Yeah, it's pretty much all freaky, yeah, everything is pretty weird.

Yvette: What's the freakiest city, or most bizarre city you have ever encountered? It must be somewhere in the midwest.

Chris: Salem should be good, lots of witches.

Yvette: Oh, speaking of witches, do you guys have any ritualistic things you do before you go on stage, or words you say?

Daniel: We kinda make a little fire in the middle of the room, we burn stuff in a bin and we just dance around naked.

Yvette: I'd like to be there and do that. It just kind of unites you as a band before you go stage. But just don't burn your feet cause it would hurt. If you guys sold as many albums as you did on frogstomp or more, say you sold a hoopful, 20 million. Would you retire at the age of whatever you are which does not matter to me?

Chris: We would laugh.

Yvette: Would you do it differently?

Daniel: Ah, yep. If we sold 20 million albums, we wouldn't do any interviews. We wouldn't do another interview again. We wouldn't have to.

Yvettte: YES! That is what I hoped you would say, haha. You wouldn't do another interview again, and that would probably be a very plush life. No interviews. Your Learjet will take you from city to city.

Daniel: Yeah, get a private jet...

Yvette: Yeah, and what else would you like to do? Production? Would you like to sign little bands?

Daniel: Cannons, take some cannons on tour.

Yvette: OK, it's a drag when you get compared to everybody, right? And I'm not going to compare you to anybody, it's a drag. I got compared to everybody. 'Cause [as] human beings we are weak people and I think we have to categorize everything so that we don't.

Chris: Something's different.

Yvette: Exactly, and I think that you guys have done a really good job on this album, and kinda finding your sound and finding some distinctness and it's pretty varied, you've got songs that sound quite punky, like Lie To Me and some more acoustic. You worked with strings which was probably really enjoyable. So it's good to see, and I guess getting compared to somebody can after a while get quite annoying. But we all have influences, right?

Daniel: Yeah, exactly. It doesn't really bother us any more, it did at the start, but everyone gets compared to someone so it's just like another thing.

Yvette: So silverchair's gonna rock your world, they're gonna be all the way across Canada so you'd better be there 'cause I know it's gonna be a good show. 'Cause I'm here with them, and I'm a witness, so be there all across Canada. Say hi to all your people out there.

Daniel: (in a Canadian accent) Hi to your people out there.

Yvette: Hi to your people out there (pointing the microphone at Chris).

Chris: (in a Canadian accent) Hi to your people out there.

Yvette: "Ha ha ha! All right, thank you very much, peace man.
