Arena Joondalup was transformed into a rock music lover’s haven yesterday for the end of summer Rock-It concert.

More than 19,000 eager music fans basked in the 35C sunshine and watched performances by rock stalwarts Grinspoon and Kiwi band Shihad as well as Cog, Butterfingers and After the Fall.

But the big drawcard was Silverchair, led by Daniel Johns, who took to the stage just before 9pm and wowed the crowd with a spectacular lighting show and several new songs from their upcoming album.

Promoter Paul Sloane said the weather was the nest it had been in the history of the concert and the crowd was mostly well behaved.

“I’ve not seen a casualty yet all day,” he said.
